4 Wedding Dance Tips You Need to Know For Your Big Day!

When working with couples in preparing for their wedding dance, I tend to notice that most couples tend to overlook certain small, yet critical, details which can make or break their BIG DAY!

A few of the points you should bear in mind are:

1. The Learning Process

For most couples, the first dance is usually the first formal dance that they get to experience. This implies that the couple has to adapt and open itself to new learning experiences. Time is therefore of the essence so try to ensure to leave at least 3 months to learn your first dance.

2. The Venue

It is important to keep the venue in mind when setting up the choreography. Different venues may allow for different moves and techniques that one would be able to perform. When selecting your venue, make sure that there is ample space to perform your first dance, the dancefloor is well lit, the venue floor is adequate and the sound is up to standard. Certain venue floors such as grass could also limit your movements, and hence, it is therefore critical to let your dance instructor know of any details you consider relevant with regards to your venue.

3. Wedding dress

The wedding dress is amongst the most important factors to consider when devising the first dance choreography.

Needless to say, the bulkier the dress, the more difficult it will be for you to perform certain dance routines. For instance, mermaid dresses tend to reduce movement whilst other large and bulky dresses would require a greater amount of space between you and your partner. Some brides even opt to change dresses.

4. Wedding Shoes

It will be a good idea to practice with your wedding shoes or a similar one to make sure that they do not limit you on your big day!
